Strongest Liverpool Line Up To Play Against Tottenham – SAS And Coutinho To Start In An Unchanged XI

Share

After yet another victory, however this time a far less convincing one against Sunderland, Liverpool are just one point behind Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table. Goals from a sublime Steven Gerrard free kick and Daniel Sturridge’s deflected effort gave the Reds a win at Anfield and now stand a chance to ruin Tottenham’s season this weekend.

Spurs come into this encounter, however, full of confidence after their comeback win over Southampton, when they were trailing to the Saints by two goals at the beginning. Tim Sherwood’s men would know beating Liverpool at Anfield would only keep their hopes of a Champions League berth, but Brendan Rodgers’ side look imperious to steamroll past any opposition this current moment. Here is Liverpool’s possible line up against Tottenham for this weekend.

Goalkeeper:

Simon Mignolet can look forward to yet another shutout and get the double clean sheet over Spurs this season, the Belgian who was a mere bystander in Liverpol’s 5-0 win over them at White Hart Lane. However with Emmanuel Adebayor and Christian Eriksen finally firing all cylinders, Mignolet will have to be at his very best to keep Spurs from breaching his bastion at Anfield.

Defenders:

While Jon Flanagan should start on the left back slot, Glen Johnson will man the other flank for the Reds. Both the wingbacks have been a reliable option for Brendan Rodgers in the leaky Liverpool defense and the English duo will look to join in attacks keeping the Tottenham wingers from cutting open the home side’s defence. Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger will be at the heart of Liverpool’s back line as they have a battle on their hands going out against the significant threat of Adebayor and Eriksen this Saturday.

Midfield:

Steven Gerrard’s brilliant free kick opened the scoring in midweek and the Reds captain will again start in his quarter back role. Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen will be a part of the flexible diamond in midfield while Rodgers should opt for Philippe Coutinho at the top just behind the strikers up front. The Brazilian for me, was Liverpool’s best player on the pitch against Sunderland and he should get the nod ahead of Raheem Sterling against Spurs.

Strikeforce:

The SAS partnership of Suarez and Sturridge are sending down shivers to their opposition and Saturday would be no exception to their imperious finishing and lethal attacking verve up front. Tottenham conceded five against the Merseysiders at White Hart Lane and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Liverpool can do the double over Spurs this season.
