A popular belief in professional football is that playing in the EPL is the peak of any footballer’s career. Only that some particular players take an exception to this belief, and would rather remain in their comfort zone in other top European leagues.

Chelsea and Liverpool are the only EPL teams Messi has played against without scoring, with the Blues particularly impressive in keeping him silent on 8 occasions until 2012.

If Messi will ever play for any other European side besides Barcelona doesn’t look very much likely for now, but if Manchester City ever manages to lure him to England, then he won’t have a problem putting EPL teams to the sword, even though he would be past his peak as a 30-something-year-old by then.
