Stats On La Liga Goal Scorers

It is not surprising to see Messi on the top of the list after his record breaking run of form continues as he broke the great German Gerd Muller‘s record in a 2-1 win over Real Betis. However, it is the player who is at the second position which makes the headlines, it is not Cristiano Ronaldo, it is the Colombian Radamel Falcao who is at the second spot after his heroics against Deportivo scoring 5 goals in the match. 

MESSI – 23 

• Messi surpassed Gerd Muller’s long-standing record of 85 goals in a calendar year with a double against Betis. La Pulga’s tally is now an incredible 86 and counting.
• Staying true to his ‘only two goals or more’ rule, Messi is yet to score less than twice in a game in which he makes the score-sheet in La Liga this season.

FALCAO – 16 

• El Tigre scored an incredible FIVE goals in Atleti’s 6-0 demolishing of Depor.
• He now joins an elite group of 31 players to have scored 5 or more in a Spanish top flight game.
• His rampant performance on Sunday sees him leapfrog Ronaldo in the scoring charts.

CRISTIANO – 13 

• Ozil took control of the scoring in Madrid’s 3-2 comeback over Valladolid.
• Cristiano will not want to fall too far behind the two above him in the table, so expect him to make up for it in one of the upcoming games left this year!

• Scored the only goal of the game in Athletic’s clash with Celta.
