Star Returns: Strongest 4-3-1-2 Swansea City Line-Up To Face Sunderland

Swansea City

Predicted Swansea City Lineup To Face Sunderland

Swansea City will be hoping to inch further away from the Premier League relegation zone when they clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

The Welsh outfit managed to get out of the drop zone when they defeated Everton 1-0 last weekend. They now sit at 17th position in the table, one point and place ahead of Hull City and will look to widen the gap with a win over David Moyes’ side who are already relegated. The Swans won 3-0 the last time they played against the Black Cats and a similar result will go a long way in aiding their survival bid.

Team News

Manager Paul Clement will be without the services of wide men Jefferson Montero (hamstring) and Wayne Routledge (hernia surgery). Nathan Dyer and Angel Rangel have been ruled out for the season.

Probable Swansea City Starting XI

Formation: 4-3-1-2

Manager: Paul Clement

Lukasz Fabianski (GK)

The Polish shot-stopper has been a key figure in Swansea’s revival under Clement. Another clean sheet this weekend will do a world of good for his team’s chances of survival.

Kyle Naughton (RB)

The former Tottenham Hotspur man has been an ever-present in the line-up. He will start again at right-back.

Federico Fernandez (CB)

The Argentine has been exceptional in the last few weeks for the Swans. Another strong showing at the back would be needed to keep out Jermain Defoe.

Alfie Mawson (CB)

The 23-year old summer signing may not be the most solid defender but manages to do his job well. Will partner Fernandez at the back.

Martin Olsson (LB)

The January arrival adds an extra dimension to the Swansea attack with his forward surges from left-back. Definite starter.

Leon Britton (DM)

The long-serving midfielder has been pivotal in the past few weeks where Swansea have notched up several important results. Will start as the deepest midfielder and look to offer cover for his defence.

Leroy Fer (CM)

Has been on the bench for the last 2 games following an injury, but the Dutchman could return to the starting XI on Saturday in place of Ki Sung-Yeung.

Tom Carroll (CM)

The winter window signing has been one of the driving forces for Swansea in the second half of the season. Will complete the midfield trio.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (CAM)

The 27-year old attacking midfielder is by far the best Swansea player and has been instrumental for them this season. He will once again be key for the Swans to get a positive result at the Stadium of Light.

Jordan Ayew (ST)

The former Aston Villa man is slowly starting to grow in confidence. Still far from his best, but will start the game at the top.

Fernando Llorente (ST)

Swansea’s hero last weekend, scoring the only goal of the game against Everton, Llorente will need to fire again for the Welsh outfit to stand a chance of survival.
