Solving Bilic’s Issues – 3 Instant Changes West Ham Need Immediately After The International Break

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic

3 Instant Changes Bilic Should Make After The International Break

When it comes to having a disappointing run at the business, Slaven Bilic is no new figure – going through a harrowing time as boss of West Ham United, as he is being considered for an overhaul by the club chiefs.

The pressure keeps mounting on Bilic after losing the first three Premier League matches of the season. The Hammers manager’s transfer dealings with co-owner David Sullivan are “a recipe for disaster” as Sullivan issued a weekend statement insisting the board had signed “the top four players” on Bilic’s summer wishlist and claimed the manager turned down the chance to sign Grzegorz Krychowiak and Renato Sanches on loan.

The Hammers sit at the rock bottom in the PL table following three straight defeats. However, West Ham play their first home game of the season, against Huddersfield on Monday.

Former West Ham star Danny Gabbidon has described the current West Ham United manager as saying,

“I look at Slaven at the moment and he looks a shadow of his former self. His body language is that of man who looks tired, who doesn’t have the answers anymore, which is sad to see. His personality is his biggest strength but in football management that can also be your biggest weakness.”

He added, “I hope that Slaven Bilic is given a bit more time to turn things around and I hope he’s used this international break to take a good look at himself and say what am I doing wrong? And how can I make things better before it’s too late. He really is on borrowed time now.”

Three Instant Changes Bilic Must Make:

Use West Ham’s Biggest Strengths – Signings

Bilic needs to extract as much as he can, out of Javier Hernandez ‘Chicharito’ – the signing of the summer as referred to by the Hammers fans. Furthermore, the club’s summer shopping cart which has the likes of Zabaleta, Arnautovic, Hart and Hernandez, will improve things, unlike last season when it was quantity rather than quality.

Build The Team Around Manuel Lanzini

Lanzini has stepped up since Payet left the club in January, becoming the team’s primary creator on the field. However, Bilic has a tendency to start the Argentine on the left wing as opposed to a central role before switching it at half-time. As everyone noticed, he plays better in the middle.

Lanzini needs to be the focal point of the team, much like Payet was. It needs to be built around him, with him pulling the strings as the midfield anchor, sourcing out balls that potentially provide the Hammers with goals.

More Breakthrough Performances Required

Irish defender Declan Rice just keeps on improving. He was the club’s Young Player of the Year in 2017 and made his debut for the senior team, coming on in their final game of last season. Bilic should also look to start Andre Ayew as a secondary striker.

Andre Ayew has started to find the net for the Hammers because he’s playing in an advanced role. Ayew’s pace and movement in and around the box will cause panic to the opposition and more so with Lanzini controlling the game and style of passes.
