Slimani In For Okazaki: Strongest 4-4-2 Leicester City Line-Up To Face Manchester City

Leicester

Predicted Leicester City Lineup To Face Manchester City

Leicester City will embark on a trip to Manchester, as they go head to head with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes have managed to turn their season around, after an extremely disappointing first half and now sit pretty comfortably at 9th place in the Premier League standings. Pep Guardiola’s side may be miles ahead of Leicester, but the fact that they were given a 4-2 thrashing in the return fixture in December will fill the visitors with confidence. They come into the game on the back of two victories against West Bromwich Albion and Watford and will look to strengthen their position in the upper half of the table.

Team News

Captain Wes Morgan’s fitness will be assessed before the game and even if fit, it is unlikely that he will straight away be ushered into action from the get-go. Molla Wague and Nampalys Mendy have been ruled out for the season.

Probable Leicester City Starting XI

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Craig Shakespeare

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

The Danish international has been excellent in goal for Leicester this season and surely will be in contention for the club Player of the Year award. A definite starter in goal.

Danny Simpson (RB)

The 30-year old has been a constant figure in the Foxes’ line-up this term. Having missed just three league games so far, he is all set to make his 33rd appearance of the season.

Yohan Benalouane (CB)

The Tunisian has slotted in nicely in the absence of Wes Morgan and has done an admirable job. The pace of Gabriel Jesus will offer a different test altogether though.

Robert Huth (CB)

The veteran has been a rock at the back for Leicester in the past month or two. But this City attack will put his mettle to the test.

Christian Fuchs (LB)

Fuchs has been one of the most consistent performers for the Foxes this season and Shakespeare will call upon him to keep the threat of Raheem Sterling in check.

Riyad Mahrez (RM)

Showed that he still has it in him, with a starry performance against Watford. He will want to end the season strongly as he looks to move to a big club.

Danny Drinkwater (CM)

The man who keeps Leicester ticking in the middle of the park, Drinkwater may not always be in the limelight but is extremely crucial for the Foxes. Another start beckons for the Englishman.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM)

The 20-year old has made the second central midfield spot his own with some stellar showings in the past two months. He will have a huge task in his hands going up against the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Yaya Toure.

Marc Albrighton (LW)

The industry and the effort that the 27-year old puts in on the left-flank are unmatchable. High on confidence after an excellent outing last week, he will be keen on exploiting City’s right-back.

Islam Slimani (ST)

Going up against the likes of the physical Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi, Shakespeare might consider bringing in Slimani who can go toe to toe with the defenders.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

The Englishman scored a hat-trick in the return leg in December. He will want to have a similar impact on the game this Saturday.
