Should Arsenal Push For A Deal To Sign This Manchester United’s Versatile Defender?

Arsenal are in need to sign more quality stars in order to strengthen their squad, including some top players at the back. Manager Arsene Wenger will be keen on fortifying the areas which still need strengthening, including the defensive line. Though Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin were good most of the season, center-back Laurent Koscielny needs a good partner to feature alongside him, if the defence actually needs to look solid.

The Gunners have been trying to add quite a few players to make that happen, though a deal has not gone through so far. However, there is still time left and the French manager is now looking at the possibility of signing a defender from one of the club’s fierce rivals.

Manchester United’s Daley Blind, who could possibly be on the verge of leaving Old Trafford is now being linked with a move to the Emirates, as Wenger desperately wants to win the Premier League title and do better in the Champions League as well.

The arrival of Eric Bailly at Old Trafford this summer must have reduced his chances of playing for the Red Devils even further now. This might urge Wenger to push for a deal and bring him to north London, in order to make him a part of his starting eleven, alongside Koscielny. Though Blind will not be the best player to start at the heart of the defence alongside the Frenchman, there are some plus points that he does have too.

For starters, he is more of a left-footed player due to which former United boss Louis van Gaal really liked playing him at the center-back position. The 26-year-old defensive superstar is really good at passing the ball around and holding it well.

At times when it is essential to calm the team down and let nerves settle, the player can keep the ball well and let his team-mates adjust to the situation. Further, the star who can play as both a defensive midfielder and in the back-line is good at tackling and stealing the ball from his opponents.

He is also a good reader of the game and can make perfectly times interceptions more often than not, making him an asset to the side. Blind likes to play long crosses and shoot from distances as well.

However, his crossing is not really up to the mark and he is also a bit slow in judging the opposition player’s runs at times, which is his weakness. Despite that, if Wenger believes he can help him improve on such areas of his game, he could help Arsenal win some silverware in the upcoming seasons, if the move does indeed go through!!
