Scouting Report: Who Is This Latest Arsenal And Chelsea Target From Championship?

Scout Report: Andrew Robertson

Relegation from the Premier League is never a good feeling, but that is exactly what Hull City fans will have to go through, there is a little more bad news along the way, as with every relegated club, the top talent is taken away from other Premier League clubs and this is what is about to happen with Andrew Robertson.

Who is He?

The versatile left back was one of the most impressive performers in an otherwise forgettable season for Hull City and now seems set to be a target for Chelsea and Arsenal as the transfer season is about to kick on.

From Scotland to England

Robertson started his career playing in the youth team of Celtic, but they let him go as he was deemed to be too short for the club. He then impressed at Queen’s Park in Scotland before signing with Dundee United. In the 2013-14 Scottish Premiership season, he was named as the Young player of the year and even made it into the team of the year.

It was this performance for Dundee that saw him move to Hull City in 2014. His performances were brilliant right from the get go and was named as the player of the month in the month of August 2014 for Hull City.

The 21-year-old Scottish player would not be thinking of making a move away from Hull City and both United and Arsenal would be great choices for a young defender like him. His stock is rising slowly as he hones his skills, one of the best parts of his game is his sound defensive knowledge and positioning and as a requirement for almost every player in the world, he can play in a couple of other positions.

Most notably he can play as a left midfielder but he doesn’t have the greatest attacking ability in him but that isn’t a problem. The biggest issue with his game is his weak right foot, he does not have the best right foot in the game and would need to work on that if he is to cut it in either team. In all probability, he would be loaned out to a Championship club or another Premier League club if he does sign for either Chelsea or Arsenal.

If it were for his all-around development, he should decide to move to Arsenal but would he be willing to shift base that is the question. We have seen many players stay at their Championship club for another season as they try to learn more about the game and at 21, Robertson has a lot of time on his hands.
