Scouting For Liverpool: Dennis Praet, The Next Andreas Iniesta?

Share

Scout Report: Dennis Praet

It is time for Jurgen Klopp to weave his magic in the transfer window, apart from Grujic and Matip; Jurgen Klopp didn’t really end up signing anyone big in the January transfer window unless you count Steven Caulker on loan.

Dennis Praet linked with Liverpool

Liverpool do need to revamp an average squad and one of the regions which really needs a lot of fresh blood has got to be the attack. Liverpool are over-reliant on Philippe Coutinho and as soon as the Brazilian is out of the team, the attacking output is greatly reduced.

Jurgen Klopp seems to have targeted another attacker who is young and making waves in the Belgian League, it could be time for Dennis Praet to join the Red half of Merseyside next season.

An incredible prospect for the future

Praet is yet another Belgian who is turning up great performances for Anderlecht this season. The 21-year-old was born in the city of Leuven in Belgium and most of his formative years took place at another big Belgian club Genk.

He became one of the top players in the league and surprisingly he moved to rivals Anderlecht in 2011 where he has been ever since. Praet is someone who loves to play in the attacking third of the pitch and would be a great addition to any squad in the Premier League.

The youngster has 161 appearances for the club and has knocked in 23 goals so far in his fledgling career. Praet is excellent with the ball at his feet and his movement and guile is something to marvel at, there have been comparisons of Andreas Iniesta, the Barcelona maestro and for good reason as well.

The thing that really stands out from his game is his technical ability, he is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet and he can pick out an incredible pass or two and unlock defences. His movement is also second to none for someone who is so young.

He can move between the lines rather well and loves to exploit open spaces either by taking up a run or by playing a ball through for his teammate.

The 21-year-old though isn’t the greatest when it comes to tackling and rightly so, he shouldn’t be tasked with tracking back and that would work with Liverpool as the likes of Roberto Firmino, James Milner and Jordon Ibe can do that out wide.

His frame is a little light as well for someone who is going to come into the Premier League, possible akin to Philippe Coutinho, his movement and quick feet would have to be his way out of trouble should a defender come charging into him.

His consistency is a bit of a problem as more often than not he doesn’t take charge of games, something which will change as he grows older and becomes integral to any team he joins. If Liverpool do get the youngster, it will be a coup for the club and maybe Praet can grow into the world beater he is expected to be.
