Scouting For Antonio Conte: 3 Perfect Replacements For John Terry At Chelsea

Share

It was a sad sight seeing John Terry getting sent off against Sunderland during the weekend, the red card means that Terry will miss out the game against Liverpool in midweek, though he should be back to say goodbye to his beloved Chelsea fans in the final game of the season against Leicester City, the new champions of England.

It has been an incredible journey for the 34-year-old and it seems his story with the blues will end this season. Terry has not been offered a new contract yet and he could be booted out of the club even before new manager Antonio Conte comes in.

The Blues will be looking to replace Terry in the Chelsea defence but that is one of the hardest things to do in the England game. Terry brought a lot to the London club, apart from his ability, he was passionate and a leader through and through.

Chelsea do have a lot of money to spend and could get some big names to step into the side next season. We provide three players who the Stamford Bridge club should sign next season to fill this large gaping hole.

Marquinhos

One of the stranger names to come into the list, not because the Brazilian is not talented but his talent is going to waste at PSG. The 21-year-old was supposed to be one of the stars in Laurent Blanc’s side but has only played a bit-part role this season with just 24 league appearances.

Marquinhos is perfect for the Premier League and should be a viable option for Antonio Conte. He would also have a point to prove to his former owners. Mamadou Sakho turned out to be a great buy for Liverpool, ultimately, and Marquinhos could also be the perfect player for Conte’s new side.

Leonardo Bonucci

This one makes the most sense, the 29-year-old Juventus defender has won everything that is there to win in Italy and he could make the jump to the Premier League just to see how well he does in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

Bonucci has all the qualities that are needed in a top central defender, he is strong in the air and in tackling and is a leader of men. A perfect replacement for Terry and with an old manager and friend Conte at the helm of Chelsea next season, Bonucci making the trip across from Turin to London might not be as big of a deal as people would think.

John Stones

The 21-year-old might not have had the best of times with Everton this season but he does have the quality to become one of the best defenders in the world. Stones was a target for Chelsea at the start of the season but it seems the rejections by Everton could play a huge part after all.

Stones would want to play for a top side and Chelsea are in a better position, just about, than Everton. There is a lot of doubt about Roberto Martinez’s future at the Toffees and with Chelsea already announcing that Antonio Conte would be coming into the club next season, the English defender might just want to make the switch from Merseyside to London.
