Scouting Arsenal And Chelsea’s Latest Defender Target: Baba Rahman From Augsburg

Baba Rahman: Scout Report

Reportedly, English Giants Arsenal and Chelsea have targeted Baba Rahman from Augsburg. The defender has played more or less his entire career in Germany and only recently signed for Augsburg but his impressive performances for both club and country.

Augsburg finished 5th last season in the Bundesliga, a great achievement for a club who don’t have the biggest budget and selling Rahman might be something they wish they didn’t have to do. We take a look at just what Rahman is all about and how he could be a great fit for any club that does sign him.

Fast and strong

One of his greatest strengths is his pace; Rahman is known for his ability to cover distance really quickly and loves to go up and down the field. He has great agility as well and is known to be an attacking full-back whenever he plays for the club.

Another great feature for the young defender is that he is two-footed, so he can play on either side of the flank and that is a great advantage in this day and age of modern football. He also is one of the best tacklers in the game and was one of the highest tacklers in the Bundesliga last season.

He does also man-mark really well; his pace helps him keep in touch even with the trickiest attackers while he does have a great aerial ability as well. Great close control allows him to take the ball in attacking positions and all of his assists from last season came from crosses, another positive in his game.

There are a few kinks in his armour though, Rahman isn’t the strongest in the Bundesliga and needs to really work on that aspect of his game. The Premier League is known for tough defending and that is something that he would have to really hit the gym for. Rahman also isn’t the best passer of the ball and needs to ensure that feature of his game is fixed real soon as most teams need someone who play the ball out from defence, especially a club like Arsenal.

Rahman does have the traits to become a great attacked left-back but he needs a bit of work to polish his overall game. He does have time on his side and any club he does sign for; he should feature regularly for the team. Talented and fast, Rahman could be one of the most inspired signings of this season if someone is willing to do the deal.
