Scout Report: Daniele Rugani

Arsenal are constantly looking for the next young star whom they can sign into their youth system, the club have had a great history of snapping up a lot of young talent and helping them reach the next level in terms of performance and ability. The club are known for their attacking players and style of play but they could be mooting a move for a rather young defender.

Daniele Rugani, has been linked with a move to Arsenal, the young Italian centre-back has been linked with a lot of top clubs but just what does he possess that has made so many clubs want him?

From Empoli to Juventus and back

The 20-year-old had spent his entire youth career at Empoli before being signed by Juventus in 2013 before being loaned back to the Serie B club. His meteoric rise for the club saw Empoli get promoted into Serie A and the youngster was also in the senior Italian squad for the recently held Euro 2016 qualifier against Croatia.

The youngster might be in for a big move back to Juventus this season but more game time could mean that he could be attracted to other big clubs. Rugani has always been known for his excellent knowledge of the game and position, it is believed that during his youth team days, and he would be the only defender and would allow the rest of his teammates to play in an attacking formation.

Game intelligence is something that the youngster has a bag load off, he doesn’t always shoot into tackles but knows when to go into a tackle and when to track a player and try to get the ball or the man away from the goal, that is something which takes years to learn and even some of the older professionals don’t possess but Rugani does.

He is an extremely hard worker as well and has decent pace which is a great asset for any player in this day of football, he can play on either side of the centre back pairing and is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, another bonus for any club that does want to sign the centre-back. Rugani has a great temperament also, as he avoids needless tackles and bookings and that is something laudable for someone so young.

Rugani might not be the finished article yet but he is sure to become a household name if he keeps his head in the right place, there is a lot of football left in his career and if he continues on this path, he could become one of the best centre-backs in the world.
