Scout Report: Bobby Adenkanye (New Liverpool Signing), The Next Arjen Robben?

Scout Report: Bobby Adenkanye

Liverpool have made yet another signing in this transfer window. They had already made six signings and have just signed one of the most highly rated youngsters, someone who was even on the books of Barcelona for a while. Bobby Adekanye signed for the Merseyside club and seems set to spend a little time adjusting to life in England but who is he?

Signed by Barcelona but played at PSV

The 16-year-old moved from Barcelona to Liverpool on a free transfer, but he was signed by Barcelona as a 12-year-old. Bobby was born in Nigeria but moved to Holland to play for Ajax; he then moved to Barcelona in 2011 but couldn’t play for the team as Barcelona had been hit with a transfer embargo regarding the signing of young players.

Bobby continued his growth joined PSV on loan and to get better, he had the option of staying at the Dutch club but instead decided to move to Liverpool. The youngster has been touted as being the next Arjen Robben. The attacker is known for his speed and dribbling which is why he has been called as the new Robben.

He plays mostly in an attacking role down the left side and prefers to cut in, his pace and ball control are exceptional for a young boy and he does score goals for fun it seems. He was even drafted into the U16 Dutch team for a recent competition.

Adekanye will be put into the academy to continue his growth; he still has a lot to work on if he does want to break into the Liverpool team. Adekanye has apparently been told that he can break into the Liverpool team in a few years, or at least that is what his agent has stated.

Adekanye will have a lot of work on his hands, but he is in the right club to continue his growth. Liverpool have given chances to many academy youngsters like Flanagan, Ibe, Wisdom, Robinson and Sterling over the years and with the attacking style of play that Rodgers tries to bring into the team, a pacy winger like Bobby. He would need to take his chances though, there are many players at the club who are looking for a break and this extra competition should help him get better as well.

Liverpool seem to be working hard on getting things right and hopefully Bobby will have a role to play in this in the near future.
