Manchester United Or Real Madrid? Which Club Would Be Happy If De Gea – Ramos Swap Deal Happens?

De Gea – Sergio Ramos Swap Deal?

The biggest transfer deal of the summer is still on, while Manchester United fans have been bracing themselves for the loss of David de Gea to Real Madrid, the British club will not go down without a fight. They are adamant of not wanting to sell De Gea and any deal that they would consider for the Spanish goalkeeper would include a player from Real Madrid to be included.

For a long time it felt like Gareth Bale would be that player wanted by United but recent reports suggest that Sergio Ramos could be the player used in the deal, well at least wanted by Manchester United. The Spanish defender isn’t pleased with the way he has been treated recently and was even part of this crazy rumour that he was offered to Barcelona, something that the Real Madrid hierarchy did not deny.

If at all De Gea – Ramos Swap deal could happens, Real Madrid would probably need to add a little bit of cash to ensure that they get their goalkeeper, while Manchester United will be pleased seeing their defensive problems get somewhat fixed with the arrival of Ramos. But, who would be the happier of the clubs if this deal goes through?

Spanish internationals, one at his peak, the other growing at an alarming rate

Ramos, at the age of 29 has been one of the most consistent performers in the white of Real Madrid, since the time of Pep Guardiola. The central defender has been brilliant in his positioning and play, even having toned down his somewhat red mist rage that often saw him get sent off, of course, Diego Costa would get the better of the Real Madrid defenders but that is another story in itself.

Ramos is at the peak of his performance and at 29, doesn’t have many top years left in him. What he would provide United with is a sense of calm, decision making and leadership, something that has been sorely missed since the departure of experienced campaigners such as Vidic, Ferdinand and Evra. Would Ramos be able to keep United from conceding goals? Probably not, since De Gea was the player who made a difference for the Red Devils.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper was in sensational form last season and that is exactly why Real Madrid want to buy him, and why Manchester United want to keep him. He can keep teams in a game all on his own and that is why he is so coveted. Real Madrid would be pulling off a coup if they can make the swap; De Gea has talent and is only going to get better as he spends more time playing at the highest level.

The Spanish league might not be the most challenging in terms of physicality or the lack of dominance from clubs other than Barcelona and Real Madrid; however, playing for one of the current forces in Europe could only make him better. Real Madrid might be paying a huge amount to secure the services of a goalkeeper but this keeper could give them great service for a decade at least.
