Predicted Chelsea line-up to face Liverpool in the Premier League

In one of the marquee games of the season this week, Chelsea entertain league leaders Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have made a terrific start to their league campaign, winning five of the six games.

But they face a strong Liverpool team who have won six out of six so far. The pressure is high as both teams target the top spot in the league. Maurizio Sarri has done a tremendous job in his first season in charge, getting the players to play in the way he wants.

Team News

Pedro and Antonio Rudiger will be touch and go for this game. They will probably be on the bench. Ruben Loftus-Cheek may still be out of action, possibly until the international break.

Probable Chelsea XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Maurizio Sarri

Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK)

This could be the Spaniard’s first real test in goal for Chelsea. It will be interesting to see how he copes with it.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Cesar Azpilicueta (RB)

The right-back started on Wednesday too, but he is fit enough to play two games in 72 hours.

Gary Cahill (CB)

With Rudiger all but out for this game and Christensen suffering a niggle after the midweek game, Cahill has to step up for this game.

David Luiz (CB)

The Brazilian has been good so far, however, he could be tested playing in a high-line defence against a team full of pace.

Marcos Alonso (LB)

The Spaniard was rested for the Carabao Cup tie but expect him to be back in the eleven for Saturday.

Jorginho

Jorginho (CDM)

Another player who was given a day off on Wednesday. He is certain to be back for Saturday and his passing range could be key against a solid Liverpool team.

N’Golo Kante (RCM)

The Frenchman has done well in a slightly advanced midfield role. He came on from the bench for the Carabao Cup game but should start this one.

Mateo Kovacic (LCM)

The Croat is a breath of fresh of air on and off the ball. He could be an influential player for the team this season.

Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard (LW)

Scored a wondrous goal on Wednesday to win the game. The Belgian is right on top of his game. He is certain to be a nuisance for the Liverpool defenders.

Olivier Giroud (ST)

With Alvaro Morata still struggling for form, Giroud is expected to be the first-choice striker in the team.

Willian (RW)

The Brazilian should start this game because Pedro is a doubt. He’s an influential presence on the pitch.
