Real Madrid opinion: Should the Galacticos sign Fabian?

According to AS (h/t Metro), Real Madrid are interested in signing Fabian Ruiz from Napoli as Zinedine Zidane idnetifies a less-expensive alternative for Paul Pogba.

Manchester United have raised the stakes for the French world cup winner by placing a price tag worth £150m, which has now forced the Los Blancos to turn their attention towards Serie A. Carlo Ancelotti’s side would demand around £70m for Ruiz.

Fabian’s astonishing rise in Italy

The Spanish U-21 international broke into the public’s attention in his first ever season at Napoli, racking up 7 goals and three assists in the process.  He also played a key role behind Ancelloti’s side finishing second in the table behind Juventus.

The former Betis man is also making his presence felt at the moment with his national team in the Euro U-21 Championship, bagging four goals in 10 matches. Primarily a central midfielder, Fabian is synonymous with the wider role as well as the attacking midfielder role.

Madrid need a young and energetic commander in midfield

The Galacticos had a horrible 2018/19 campaign, which saw them walk away trophyless. One of many reasons for their debacle turned out to be the lack of inspiration in the middle of the park as the Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric and German talisman Toni Kroos failed to pull the strings together.

With the midfield duo having already entered their 30s, the La Liga giants should look to bring some promising talents and Fabian looks a perfect fit.

In the previous season, the Spaniard held a pass success percentage of 90% with an average of 2.5 key passes per game, an eye-catching stat for a midfielder of his age.

Furthermore, his current spree in U-21 Championship has revealed his attacking-sides, as he averaged 4.5 shots per game. He can also play as a defensive midfielder and it makes him one of the midfield sensations on the rise.

The Los Blancos have already made a statement by acquiring a string of star signings in the transfer window and their process would be incomplete if they miss out the signing of Fabian, who is poised for greatness.
