Ronaldo Saves The Day: Real Madrid Player Ratings Against Las Palmas

Share

The La Liga giants failed to capitalize on their lead as they were held to a 3-3 draw against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeau on Wednesday. The game saw Gareth Bale sent off as Zinedine Zidane will now look to keep the pressure on his title rivals from next game as the gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid keeps reducing.

Real Madrid Player Ratings

Keylor Navas – 4/10

Made the huge error for charging out of his goal line for the third goal, although made a few good stops to deny Jese twice and keep Madrid in the contest. Could not do much about the first two goals.

Marcelo – 6/10

Could not push forward often enough in the first half but was a real attacking threat and provided a sense of urgency after the break. He was poor defensively as he was caught out several times.

Nacho – 5/10

Calm and composed in possession of the ball but struggled against Boateng whenever he had physical battles. Apart from that he was reasonably solid pairing up with Ramos.

Sergio Ramos – 4/10

Was at fault for 2 goals as he conceded a penalty and let Tana turn away from him easily because of some school boy defending.

Daniel Carvajal – 6/10

Was always on the lookout for good curling crosses into the box when he found himself running forward on his side of the pitch, but he struggled defensively being caught out and easily beaten on a few occasions.

Toni Kroos – 5/10

The usually reliant set-piece taker was ineffective and unable to create anything from his defensive position. The German barely managed to cause any threat for the visitors as they struggled with 10 men.

Mateo Kovacic – 5/10

Was good on the ball and assisted the first goal for Isco but gave the ball away too often for Madrid’s liking in terms of the situation they were in after the break.

Isco – 5/10

Got his side’s opener with a good finish but couldn’t impose himself on the game as he seemed to disappear. He had a very quiet game after he was found in good spaces in the second period.

Gareth Bale – 4/10

Was powerful with his running and caused Las Palmas a huge problem on his side. Got himself sent off for a silly couple of tackles and reactions that let his team down.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 8/10

Scored two crucial goals in terms of the title race that earned Madrid a draw with 10 men. Looked frustrated for most part of the game but his persistence and brilliance paid off finally as he tucked in a penalty and equalized with a header.

Alvaro Morata – 6/10

Led the line well but had plenty of goals disallowed by the flag. A rather frustrating evening for the striker, who seemed very eager and determined to prove a point for his manager. He was a bit unlucky.

Substitutes-

James Rodriguez – 7/10

Came off the bench to provide an important assist for Ronaldo’s header. Was trying to force the issue with passes into Lucas Vasquez as he had only 15 minutes to make an impact.

Lucas Vasquez – 6/10

Subbed on to bring in fresh legs and he did just so as he brought about urgency and confidence to Real’s attacks.

Karim Benzema – 5/10

Had a few good opportunities but was wasteful with all of them.
