Liverpool will now battle it out against Premier League rivals Tottenham to complete the signing of Newcastle midfield superstar Moussa Sissoko, as per a report from French website Foot Mercato. The French international has been looking for Champions League football for quite some time now and will be on sale for a price of £16m, despite still having four years left on his current contract with the club.
The Reds were interested in signing the midfielder, but Spurs are leading the race at present, with the north London outfit all set to submit a bid.
The Frenchman recently spoke in an interview and said, “With a year until the Euros, I shouldn’t change club and risk ended up on the bench. But at the same time I want to play for one of the biggest clubs.”
“I want to play in the Champions League, which we don’t have at Newcastle.”
“One day or another, my time will come. But in any case I see myself staying in England.”
