After a disastrous week that saw Manchester United pick up just a point from a league game and a European game, Jose Mourinho’s side were back to winning ways this weekend as goals from Paul Pogba and a brace from Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave the side a much needed three points. The manager made a few changes to the side from recent games and will be happy with the result but he will know that it was a victory over a Swansea side that has now picked up just 2 points from their last 7 league games this season. There were some decent performances on the night and here are the player ratings:

David de Gea (6):

Put in a comfortable performance on the night as he was hardly tested by an innovation less Swansea side.

Ashley Young (6):

Hardly had any defending to do at the back as he put in a decent performance providing width to the side in attack when needed.

Phil Jones (5):

Just coming back from injury, Jones, put in a decent performance easing back in the first team. Although, he was at fault for the only Swansea goal on the night.

Marcos Rojo (6):

Though nervous at the back recently, Rojo, was not put under enough pressure by Swansea.

Matteo Darmian (5):

Extremely low on confidence at the moment, Darmian, tried to add to United’s attack but just could not provide troubling crosses on a night where he hardly had to defend.

Michael Carrick (7):

Calm and composed in the midfield as he ran the show for Manchester United in a deep-lying role to help them lay a platform for a comfortable victory.

Marouane Fellaini (5):

Did nothing out of the ordinary as he put himself about when needed making it even harder for a misfiring Swansea side.

Paul Pogba (8):

Finally announcing himself in England, Pogba, scored a sumptuous volley as he showed everyone what he is made up of on a superb night for the Frenchman.

Juan Mata (6):

Stuck to his job as he kept the ball rolling and though could not create too many chances, provided the extra number in attack that helped United all the way.

Wayne Rooney (8):

Arguably the best game this season for Wayne Rooney. Picked up the assists for both of Zlatan’s goals on a productive night.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (8):

Back to scoring ways after a mini drought. The Swede was all over the Swansea defence as he got himself a well deserved brace to give his side all three points from this game.

Subs:

Jesse Lingard:

Came in with less than 10 minutes to play and hardly had a chance to effect the game.

Morgan Schneiderlin:

Came in to replace Rooney in the 89th minute and hardly had any contribution to make.

Timothy Fosu Mensah:

The youngster replaced Paul Pogba who got a standing ovation, a well deserved one, from the away fans at the Liberty Stadium.
