Pochettino to make 5 changes – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Tottenham lineup to face Swansea City

Predicted Tottenham Lineup To Face Swansea City In The FA Cup

Tottenham Hotspur travel to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday for a quarterfinal clash in the FA Cup, which remains their final opportunity of winning a trophy this season. More importantly, Spurs have a real chance at it because of the earlier exits of contenders like Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. They will be up against a side that may not play with their best XI, as Premier League survival would be their first priority.

Hence, Spurs should fancy their chances big time. However, it will not be the easiest of outings against a redoubtable Swansea back line. While the Swans have lost just twice under Carlos Carvalhal, the North London side has picked up more points in the league than any other side since the turn of the year and has lost just one game in all competitions. This only implies that we are in for a gritty, vigorous and a feisty contest.

Team News

The biggest news is that of Harry Kane, who is reportedly out until April. Dele Alli hobbled off the pitch and is unsure of returning immediately. He will have a fitness test ahead of the clash, along with Danny Rose. Ben Davies is a doubt for the game. Toby Alderweireld remains an absentee as he fights a hamstring injury.

Probable Tottenham XI

Spurs should make a few forced changes to their 4-2-3-1 system. They will look to hold a high line, keep Swansea back peddling and eat up possession.

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK: Michel Vorm

Vorm should start against his former club. He is a handy goalkeeper to have, someone who makes saves from the top drawer.

RB: Kieran Trippier

Trippier will replace Aurier at right-back. He possesses fine pace, delivery and defensive skill.

Jan Vertonghen

CB: Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen should organise and build the defence. He is strong, difficult to get through and is a formidable opponent to face.

CB: Davinson Sanchez

Sanchez will accompany Vertonghen in central defence. The duo has been absolutely prolific and unbeatable in recent weeks.

LB: Kyle Walker-Peters

Since both Davies and Rose are doubtful, Kyle Walker-Peters should get a start here.

CM: Mousa Dembele

Dembele will keep his place in the side. He is an absolute architect in possession, confident with or without the ball and is a tireless worker in midfield.

Victor Wanyama

CM: Victor Wanyama

The titanic figure of Wanyama will feature in midfield. He is stubborn, quick to react and is an able tackler.

RW: Christian Eriksen

Eriksen’s dribbling, set-piece threat and vision will be key to this game’s result. He will play in a deeper role and advance forward whenever required.

CAM: Heung-Min Son

Son should play in behind the striker. He will run with the ball, make runs into empty channels, create chances and openings and take the responsibility of scoring goals in Harry Kane’s absence.

Heung-min Son

LW: Erik Lamela

Lamela is expected to start at left-wing. He is crafty, links up well with his teammates and can strike them sweetly.

ST: Fernando Llorente

Having scored a hat-trick last time out, Llorente is in line to lead the attack again in Harry Kane’s absence. Also, if Son plays as a No.9, it removes his flexibility to drop deeper and create the play.
