Tottenham opinion: Why Spurs should sign Steven N’Zonzi from AS Roma?
According to CalcioMercato, Tottenham are set to battle North London rivals Arsenal for the signature of Steven N’Zonzi. The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Frenchman since the arrival of Unai Emery, who worked with N’Zonzi at Sevilla.
Arsenal’s chances of getting N’Zonzi have improved, according to the report, as Roma’s technical director Monchi is close to joining the Gunners as their new director of football.
Monchi worked closely with Unai Emery during his time at Sevilla and the duo are set to work together again. Monchi bought the Frenchman to both Sevilla and Roma and is expected to bring him to Arsenal too but Tottenham should make a move for the Frenchman in the summer.
Spurs have been forced to use Harry Winks in the defensive midfielder role due to the injury to Victor Wanyama. Although Wanyama has returned to full fitness, the Kenyan is down the pecking order with both Eric Dier and Winks above him.
