Plz Say No Jose – 3 Players Chelsea Should Avoid Signing in January

Share

With the Blues customarily linked with every decent player in the world for the January transfer window, with 3 weeks left rumours are coming hard in and fast.

3 Players Chelsea Should Avoid Signing in January

1. Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso to Chelsea?

All in all it may seem that Xabi Alonso would be a good signing for Chelsea, he’s experienced in the Premier League, has played under Jose Mourinho before and is still one of the better midfielders in world football. Though it isn’t him that is the problem, it is Chelsea. An overcrowded midfield already doesn’t need another talented player to be consigned to the bench when they already have to find a place for Juan Mata and Willian, as they are too good to rot on the sidelines. There is also the possibility of growing over reliant on the former Liverpool star, the last thing Chelsea need, as his recent injury problems have decimated the amount of minutes he can spend on the bench.

2. Karim Benzema

Benzema

Another Real Madrid player makes the list, Karim Benzema was once one of the best strikers in the world, but recently he has found himself frustrated and unable to impose himself on games, remind you of anyone Chelsea already have? Benzema may just need a change of scenery, but he has experienced a massive fall lately, and the last thing Chelsea will want is another expensive striker flop. With Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba all shadows of what they used to be, Chelsea may not be the best place for Benzema, and Benzema may not be the best option for Chelsea. A transfer must be avoided for the good of both parties.

3. Ivan Rakitic

There is no doubting his talent and ability, and he is one of Croatia’s 3 superstars along with Luka Modric and Mario Mandzukic, but he has been struggling as of late, and as it has been seen this season, Chelsea is not the place for midfielders to thrive, as if Juan Mata cannot be guaranteed a starting spot, it is unlikely Rakitic will. Now playing for struggling Sevilla, he is a Champions League quality player and may want to leave, but Chelsea already have enough good midfielders, and Rakitic needs game time for the upcoming world cup. A move for the former Schalke man could prove disastrous for everyone involved.
