Granit Xhaka was cheered on by fiancée Leonita Lekaj in the stands as Switzerland beat Faroe Islands 2-0 in the Swissporarena. Goals from Eren Derdiyok and Stephan Lichtsteiner helped the Swiss national team edge past Faroe Island in their World Cup Qualifying game on Sunday night.
The Arsenal defensive midfielder put in another solid show as he helped his team to a crucial win putting them one step closer to the major tournament. In the stands, was his fiancée who showed her support with the rest of the audience at the stadium although her key focus was on a sole player, her partner Xhaka.
Xhaka has made a strong start to his Arsenal career and performed almost as much as his worth on each time Arsene Wenger has called upon him. The £33million summer signing has lived up to the Arsenal fans’ expectations and his transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach certainly has bolstered Arsene Wenger’s midfield.
Scoring with a cracker at Hull earlier this season, the defensive midfielder also has justified having a hammer of a left foot with a very high quality, precise range of ball passing, something that Wenger is delighted to have.
And Xhaka’s fiancée Leonita, also was able to show her love for her partner on instagram as Switzerland eased past their European opponents. The couple got engaged last year in April and it seems that they deeply support each other in their togetherness.
Arsenal will be looking for Xhaka to put in another consistent performance when his club side travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
The summer signing returned to London after his involvement in the Swiss national team during the international break. Xhaka shared the above picture on his Instagram account with the caption: “#london#backathome”
The pair seems to be relaxed during their time together before Xhaka starts his match preparations for the crunch tie against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United this weekend.
