Paul Merson claims Wilfried Zaha is frustrated and is better than Crystal Palace

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has claimed that Wilfried Zaha is better than the Crystal Palace team and that he is frustrated.

The Ivorian was linked with a move to the Gunners, but Palace rejected all attempts made by their London rivals (h/t Mirror).

Zaha is one of the best players from outside the top six clubs and was one reason why Palace avoided relegation last season. The 26-year-old was also a target for Everton and the Ivorian even submitted a transfer request, but he remained at Palace (h/t Mirror).

Zaha’s campaign hasn’t been the best, as he has no goals and no assists in five games, and Merson had some tough words for the Palace star after the 4-0 defeat at Tottenham (h/t Mirror):

“You look at it and Zaha had one shot straight at the keeper.

“Every time he got the ball they fouled him. Every single time he got the ball they fouled him.

“It must be frustrating for him, playing at Palace and I don’t want to sound disrespectful, but he’s better than that, it seems like he has to do it all on his own.”

Palace need Zaha back to his best

Merson does have a point that the Ivorian could be frustrated at not being able to seal a move in the summer.

The 26-year-old has a lot of talent and Palace need him to be at his best if they want to remain in the Premier League next season.

The Gunners have also struggled a bit despite spending big on Nicolas Pepe in the summer, and recently gave away a two-goal lead against Watford to earn a draw.
