The joy of the resounding 4-0 victory against Barcelona was short-lived as the Reds stumbled to a disappointing 4-0 loss at the hands of Mainz in their last pre-season fixture. Jurgen Klopp’s side was looking high on confidence after their win against Barcelona but they would never have wanted such a result in their final pre-season fixture. Klopp decided to rest some of his key players for the game with a completely different line-up as compared to that against Barcelona. Let us take a look at how the players performed in the game.

Alex Manninger – 5

The veteran goalkeeper did not have a good game as he was beaten four times and was not looking confident. It looks difficult to see him start for the Reds.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7

There have been a lot of talks about the young right back and from an overall dismal display; he was the player who did a pretty decent job.

Andre Wisdom – 5

Wisdom is not looking likely to start for the Reds anytime sooner with a not so good display in the pre-season fixtures.

Joel Matip – 6

The new signing was recovering from an injury and was not looking at his best. Has to improve his game.

Alberto Moreno – 5

Liverpool seriously need to consider options for the left back position with Moreno looking all over the place defensively.

Emre Can – 5

Can had a chance to show his best and give the fans a reason to smile but he couldn’t do so in this game. Was not at all looking sharp in the midfield. Will have to work hard once the season starts.

Jordan Henderson – 5

The skipper was not impressive yet again and was just a figure in the midfield who was doing the running but nothing special.

Marko Grujic – 6

The new signing has been exceptional in his performances in the games before but in this one he was not looking in that form.

Adam Lallana – 5

Not the same display as it was against Barcelona. Lallana has to be more consistent if he wishes to maintain his position in the starting line-up.

Ben Woodburn – 6

Had his chance to impress Klopp but did not do anything spectacular. Was decent for the Reds but could have done much better.

Divock Origi – 6

The striker had a quiet time this time and was left on his own on many occasions. He lacked the support from the attacking midfield and could not have an impact on the game.
