Opinion: How Would Manchester United Line-up With This Barcelona Star in The Team?

Manchester United Transfer Opinion

£22 million might not sound like a lot in this transfer window, especially after the likes of Benteke, Sterling and Firmino’s deals were involved but for that amount of money you could get a La Liga, Champions League, European and World Cup winner. Reportedly, Manchester United lead the race to sign Pedro from Barcelona, a deal that could really propel them into Championship winning territory.

Pedro is still only 27-years-old but hasn’t had the best of times since the arrival of Luis ‘Vampire’ Suarez. The Uruguayan took to the Barcelona team like a fish does to water and helped them to the treble but more importantly slot well with the ‘Trident’, that is Neymar and Messi. With an all-South American forward line-up, Pedro’s chances have dried up faster than a drop of water in the Sahara and this would be why he does want a move away from the club.

United could provide an escape route for the gifted winger but how would they play him in a team that already has a lot of wingers?

A brilliant attacking option for a Premier League team

Pedro would provide Manchester United United with a great option on either side of the wing; he has great technique and an eye for goal as well. The other great aspect of Pedro moving to Manchester United would allow them to play him as a second striker if he does line-up to play behind Wayne Rooney.

The best position for Pedro would be on either wing. Pedro isn’t a right sided or left sided midfielder who will track back to deal with defensive issues. He can and will pressure opponents in his attacking half but barring that, he should be left to do the attacking while others pick up the slack of defending.

Manchester United would probably have to drop either Angel Di Maria or Ashley Young to accommodate the Spanish World Cup winner. Pedro would be great on either side with Memphis Depay taking up the other winger’s role.

Pedro could be a great acquisition for United as long as they can get rid of Angel Di Maria, the Argentine needs to either pick up in training or his time could be coming to an end at the club. Pedro would certainly be a shrewd signing from Manchester United, especially after the smart acquisitions they have made this season. Louis van Gaal certainly seems to know what he wants and who he wants, hopefully, he can deliver some silverware for Manchester United fans at the end of this season.
