Predicted Wolves Line-up To Face Cardiff City In The EFL Championship

Wolverhampton Wanderers face a real test against Cardiff City this weekend. The West Midlands outfit must travel to face the second-placed outfit, who are currently 6 points behind them. After being held to a 2-2 draw by Hull City in their previous game, the Wolves will be looking to come out all guns blazing and prevent Cardiff from closing the gap.

Despite solidifying their position at the top, Wolves have endured a recent slump in form which has brought their competitors quite close to them in the league table. Now, it remains to be seen if Nuno Espirito Santo’s men can fight to keep the lead intact.

Probable Wolves XI

Manager: Nuno Espirito Santo

Formation: 3-4-3

John Ruddy (GK)

Ruddy was a tad bit shaky against Hull but in the upcoming game, he will have no room for error. It is an important game for the Wolves and the goalkeeper must be at his absolute best.

Willy Boly (CB)

Boly has been in exceptional form this season and his defensive solidity will prove to be crucial for the club.

Ryan Bennett (CB)

Bennett is expected to return to his usual spot at the heart of the defence after filling in for Matt Doherty against Hull.

Conor Coady (CB)

The three-man back line is likely to be completed by Coady, who will be in line for another start.

Barry Douglas (LWB)

Douglas is likely to be deployed in his usual role on the left-hand side and he will be looking to establish control in this area to keep trouble from Cardiff at bay.

Barry Douglas

Matt Doherty (RWB)

After missing out against Hull, Doherty is expected to take up the right wing-back position this weekend.

Romain Saiss (CM)

Saiss can dictate the pace of the game quite well and it is imperative for him to maintain control over a powerful Cardiff midfield.

Ruben Neves (CM)

Saiss is likely to be partnered with Neves, who is also expected to return to the starting XI this weekend. They work well together but they have a quite a test ahead of them.

Diogo Jota

Helder Costa (LW)

Costa put in a fine performance against Hull and it is important for him to provide a lethal attacking presence against Cardiff.

Ivan Cavaleiro (RW)

Cavaleiro’s one-touch moves are delightful to watch and he is likely to take up his spot on the right-wing.

Diogo Jota (CF)

Jota can be a menace going forward and his return will certainly boost Wolves’ chances. He is likely to lead the line on Saturday since it is a crucial match.
