After being linked extensively with young defensive midfielder Ruben Neves, Arsenal are now believed to have also turned their attention to his partner in crime, Danilo Pereira. If Portuguese paper O Jogo are to be believed, Arsenal are monitoring both Neves and Danilo. The news has resulted in Arsenal’s pursuit of Neves being touted as a repeat of “Gaitan effect”, a situation where in the process of monitoring Gaitan, Manchester United were linked with numerous of his teammates at Benfica.
O Jogo have gone on to claim that Arsenal are pleased with the assessment received of Danilo. However, with no offer and no idea of a concrete offer yet, it remains a mere case of tracking one of the various options available for a club. Danilo, who previously plied his trade at Maritimo, moved to FC Porto only in July 2015. It is believed that the Portuguese clubs have instituted a £29 million release clause in his contract making him a costly acquisition to make.
