Norwich City Opinion: Why Farke should sign Yoann Barbet in the summer

Daniel Farke’s side
Farke is a very shrewd tactician, having recruited very well in the last two transfer windows. The German may not have a big budget but knows exactly how to get quality deals as well as make the best use of the resources available to him. Not to forget, he has also heavily promoted youth this season, with the likes of Jamal Lewis, Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell impressing like anything.
Come summer, Farke should think of getting some quality bargain deals ahead of the 2019/20 season. And he could do a wonderful job by signing Brentford left-back Yoann Barbet, who will become a free agent at the end of the season.
Yoann Barbet, 25, has been a consistent performer for Brentford since moving from French club Chamois Niortais back in 2015. He has played 25 Championship games this term, scoring once.
Barbet’s versatility makes him a valuable player to have in the squad. Although he primarily plays at left-back, the manager can use him in central defence in times of crisis and the 25-year-old would do a commendable job.
The Frenchman is a technically-gifted player, who is strong in the air and robust in the challenge. He is hard as a nail, very difficult to get past or dispossess, and brings a calming influence to the backline.
The 25-year-old loves to make sliding tackles to break opposition attacks and is a player who never gives less than 100% on the pitch. Known for his composure in possession and ability to play out from the back, Barbet’s availability on a free transfer in summer is certain to attract a lot of clubs.
Verdict
To put things into perspective, Barbet would be an ideal signing Norwich and Farke can bag a massive coup by getting his icy hands on the French defender. He will not only add quality to the Norwich backline but also bring competition for the defenders.

He’ll turn 26 in May, entering the peak years of his career. So there would be no better time than this summer to bag Barbet’s signature.
