Barcelona vs Liverpool Report – Liverpool Match Report

A goal-shy Liverpool were beaten 3-0 by a clinical Barcelona side at Camp Nou in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal. Lionel Messi scored a brace, while former Red Luis Suarez netted the other for the Blaugrana.

After a high-octane start to the game, where both sides were pressing high and creating turnovers to cause problems, Jordi Alba produced a good cross in the 26th minute to find the run of Suarez. The striker then produced a flicked finish to give his side the lead.

Sadio Mane had a chance to equalise but he skied his effort from close range.

At the start of the second half, Liverpool had three great chances but Marc-Andre Ter Stegen made three fine saves to deny Mohamed Salah and James Milner twice.

Around the 75th minute, Suarez hit the post but fortunately, the ball stayed alive for Messi with a gaping goal to tuck in the second.

Seven minutes later, Messi produced a magical moment by scoring a free-kick from 30 yards out, leaving Alisson with no chance to save it.

Liverpool had their chance to make it 3-1, but Roberto Firmino’s effort was cleared off the line and Mohamed Salah hit the bar on the rebound.

All in all, a damning result for the Reds who played well but didn’t take their chances:

Here’s how some of their fans reacted after this game:
