Defeat in the Champions League final against Real Madrid would have surely disappointed the Liverpool fans but they will be happy to notice that their team has improved massively under Jurgen Klopp.

Manchester City deservedly won the Premier League and while Manchester United finished second in the table 19 points adrift of their cross-town rivals, Liverpool should be considered the second-best team in England despite finishing 4th this season.

The Reds won three times against Manchester City this season, which clearly says Jurgen Klopp’s side are a force to reckon with and can blow away any team on their given day.

If changes are made to the squad this summer, Liverpool could have a chance to take a giant leap next season. After years of mediocrity, the Merseysiders finally have a manager who can lead them to glory.

So, here are three reasons why Klopp will win the title next season.

Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool have the charisma of Jurgen Klopp who has brought the pulling power that the club have lacked under previous managers.

The Reds have signed lucrative commercial deals in recent years and their financial muscle has been used to good effect by Klopp. The German tactician has made some exciting signings in Virgil van Dijk, Naby Keita, and most recently, Fabinho.

Klopp has made Liverpool one of the most eye-catching teams to watch in Europe by making them play a high-octane style of football. He’s slowly improved Liverpool’s squad and next season could finally be Liverpool’s.

Attacking prowess

One could claim that Manchester City’s forward line is very good but it surely not as breathtaking as Liverpool’s front-three.

Goals are so well distributed around the team with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino running riot this season. Firmino has simply been outstanding, Mane has proved time and again what he can do with his devastating pace and trickery, and Salah, who ended the season with 43 goals in his debut season at Anfield, is only going to improve next campaign.

If the Reds succeed in adding another prolific goal-scorer and succeed in keeping the fearsome attacking trio fit throughout the season, then Klopp can put an assault on the league title.

Improving defence

Defensively, there are a few obvious problems but Liverpool are improving. They have come a long way from making those schoolboy errors that led to goals.

Van Dijk has succeeded in shoring up the defence at Anfield by bringing a sense of stability and physicality. While Dejan Lovren has improved, the young full-backs have stepped up and are in the safe hands of Klopp.

Klopp should prioritise signing a goalkeeper in the wake of Loris Karius’ horror show in the Champions League. If he manages to sign a new shot-stopper along with a reliable central defender, then expect Liverpool to assemble a much stronger squad to win the title next season.
