Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has lauded his new signing Michael Essien for his commitment and determination to settle in quickly at Santiago Bernanaeu. The former Chelsea man have not only settled in easily but also shown his diversity by helping Madrid when he filled in at left-back covering the injured defenders during the 5-0 riot over Real Mallorca on Sunday night.
The Ghanaian International has been influential so far since joining in the summer from Chelsea and has done an excellent job in an un familiar position last three games for Madrid. After Essien had again impressed against Mallorca, the coach lauded his player’s enthusiasm, while revealing he had taken a pay-cut to join Madrid on loan for this season.
“Essien plays where I want, and he does not mind,” Mourinho said. “He shows the same attitude and mentality as when he decided to come to Real Madrid and play, while making less money than at Chelsea. I do not give any credit to what the media say.”
