Morata Saves The Day: The Best And The Worst Rated Real Madrid Players Against Villarreal

Share

Zinedine Zidane’s men were involved in a nail-biting game as they came from two goals down to win 3-2 against Villareal at Camp El Madrigal on Sunday. Villarreal took the lead in the 50th minute and doubled it 6 minutes later to have Madrid struggling at 2-0 after 56 minutes. However, the Real Madrid comeback started with a strike from Gareth Bale in the 64th minute. Cristiano Ronaldo levelled things up from the spot in the 74th minute when they were awarded a penalty. Morata later completed the team’s comeback when he scored in the 83rd minute. It looked as though Real would lose, but it doesn’t seem like the league leaders want to move out of top spot.

Ronaldo equalised from the spot for Real Madrid.

Morata came off the bench to secure all 3 points for his side.

Real Madrid Player Ratings

Keylor Navas 6/10- Could do nothing about the way he was beaten for Villarreal’s two goals, but he managed to pull off a string of fine saves to keep Madrid in the game when called upon.

Daniel Carvajal 5/10- Had a torrid time defending as he was restricted only to defending in the first half. He improved after the break and looked better when attacking the wing. Put in a good cross for Bale’s headed goal.

Pepe 5/10- Could only improve after a horrendous first half as he looked shaky and off the pace of the game. All over the place when he was required to be stable.

Sergio Ramos 6/10- Made a few errors of his own but bailed out his defensive partner Pepe on most occasions. Undoubtedly, Madrid’s best player in defense.

Marcelo 6/10- Was caught out defensively many times but was brilliant when attacking from the left as his crosses usually found their targets to perfection. Assisted Morata with a peach of a cross.

Casemiro 6/10- The midfielder made plenty of important tackles and interceptions at the tip of Madrid’s defense and made way for an attacking substitution later in the game.

Luka Modric 6/10- Had a difficult first half in which he found it difficult to get into the game. But he improved after the break to look like his usual clinical self.

Toni Kroos 5/10- The German was unable to get a grip on the game and found it difficult to get his passing moves. But he did improve in the second half which helped his side’s confidence and his shot ricochet off the hand of a Villarreal player awarding them a penalty.

Karim Benzema 6/10- Made a ruckus and caused havoc in front of the Villarreal goal and was also an aerial threat in the second half when Madrid had free-kicks and corners. Linked up well with the other attackers.

Cristiano Ronaldo 6/10- The Portuguese ace was not having a good game but managed to convert from the penalty spot to get his side level. Relatively quiet and did not have much of an impact as he had a rather frustrating afternoon before scoring a composed penalty.

Gareth Bale 7/10- Was Madrid’s best player in attack and fired them into the game with a well-taken header. Looked a threat whenever he had the ball and was instrumental in turning the game around.

Substitutes-

Isco 7/10- Was used as an attacking midfielder and linked up well when brought on for Casemiro. Brought in urgently for a tiring Madrid squad and sprayed a few lovely passes.

Lucas Vasquez 6/10- Did not have much time for an impact as he came on for Bale late in the game.

Alvaro Morata 7/10- Guided a lovely header after rising high for Marcelo’s cross to effect the outcome of the game when he came on for Benzema.
