M’Baye Niang And Deeney Start: Strongest 4-3-3 Watford Line-Up To Face Liverpool

Watford

Predicted Watford Lineup To Face Liverpool

Watford FC will look to strengthen their position in the top half of the Premier League table when they take on third-placed Liverpool at the Vicarage Road on Monday night.

The Hornets currently sit 10th in the table and a win could see them establish a stronghold over a finish in the top half. Walter Mazzarri’s men were defeated 2-0 by relegation battlers Hull City in their previous encounter. However, Liverpool will be reeling from the 2-1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Crystal Palace last weekend and the game will be there for the taking if Watford come up with the right tactics. The last time the two sides clashed, Watford were hit for a six by the Reds, as they were defeated 6-1 at Anfield.

Team News

Craig Cathcart’s involvement has been cast under a cloud of doubts after Mazzarri confirmed that the defender faces a fight to be fit for Monday. Midfielder Valon Behrami too may miss out, despite being close to full fitness. No return date has been set for veteran defender Younes Kaboul and midfielder Ben Watson. Mauro Zarate and Roberto Pereyra have been ruled out for the season.

Probable Watford XI:

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Walter Mazzarri

Heurelho Gomes (GK)

The veteran Brazilian has been a huge influence at the back for the Hornets and after having let in six the last time the two teams met, he will be itching for a better night.

Daryl Janmaat (RB)

The 27-year old hasn’t had the most productive of the seasons, with just one goal and one assist to show for from his 22 league appearances. He will have his hands full dealing with Philippe Coutinho.

Sebastian Prodl (CB)

At the heart of the defence will be the giant Austrian, Sebastian Prodl. The experienced campaigner has missed just 4 league games this term and is set to start his 29th league game.

Miguel Britos (CB)

Prodl will be partnered by former Napoli man Miguel Britos. The Uruguayan is known to make reckless mistakes in and around the box and will need to curb himself if his team is to stand a chance.

Jose Holebas (LB)

Completing the back four will be Greek left-back Jose Holebas. The 32-year old has been a constant fixture in the line-up ahead of Juan Zuniga this season. Expect it to stay the same.

Etienne Capoue (CM)

The 28-year old started the campaign excellently and scored plenty of goals. But has gone off the boil in recent months. He will want to finish the season the way he began.

Troy Deeney

Tom Cleverley (CM)

The former Everton and Manchester United man has started all but one of his 13 games since arriving in the winter window. He is set to make his 14th appearance for his new club.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (CM)

The 24-year old has started all of the last five league games for Watford. He is the third man in the midfield trio against Liverpool.

Nordin Amrabat (RW)

The Moroccan International has failed to impress in his first full season with Watford. With no goals and just 3 assists to show for from his 24 league appearances, he will be keen to find some form in the final leg of the season.

M’Baye Niang (LW)

The biggest attacking threat for Watford, the loan signing has been doing wonderfully well. He could be the man to inspire the team to a surprise upset win against the Reds.

Troy Deeney (ST)

Captain and club top scorer Troy Deeney has gone without a goal in his last three league games. He will be intent on adding more to his tally of 10 strikes this season.
