Manchester City completing this high-profile swap deal involving Aguero and Barcelona target would be perfect – agreed?

Antoine Griezmann

Why Swapping Aguero For Griezmann Would Work Wonders For Manchester City

There is a lot to play for in the 2017-18 campaign, yet the outlets are publishing rumors regarding summer transfer deals and the recent news of Manchester City’s involvement in Antoine Griezmann deal is creating a buzz even if there are months left for the transfer window to reopen. Barcelona were reportedly the destination for the decorated Frenchman but City’s offer seems to be more enticing one for his current employers Atletico Madrid as it contains a surprise player plus cash deal.

The player is none other than goal-machine Sergio Aguero who, if these reports are believed to be true, will be handed a return to his former club this summer. The famous Argentine is still City’s marksman up front and is in contention of the Premier League Golden Boot award.

Yet, his future seems to be uncertain as Brazilian Gabriel Jesus has emerged as a long-term successor of the prolific striker. Although he has netted 199 goals for the Cityzens in 289 outings, Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City boss, wants to rival his former club Barcelona in chase of the Rojiblancos superstar.

The 27-year-old French forward is currently having his fourth campaign under Diego Simeone since completing a move from Real Sociedad back in 2014. Griezmann has been bang on target since the very beginning and has scored 106 goals so far in 198 appearances.

Sergio Aguero

Despite City’s interest, Griezmann prefers to stay in Spain and achieve title glory by joining Barcelona. However, Atletico will get the desired fees, won’t have to look for an alternative as they will get Aguero as a part of the deal and most importantly, won’t be forced to do transfer business with their La Liga rivals for their best resource.

It might sound crazy to all but Pep has a case here regarding his decision about Aguero. The star striker will be 30 next season and his injuries have created uncertainty at times when City’s season has been in full throttle in recent years. Gabriel Jesus was preferred earlier this season but his injury allowed Aguero to reclaim his starting spot.

The Argentine grabbed the opportunity and performed majestically, shaking off early shambles. However, Guardiola’s mission to build a long-term project at Etihad would be served by the swap offer. Griezmann is agile, features week in week out and his profile suits Premier League’s style.

He has a strong left foot and is capable of playing as a centre-forward as well as down the wings. His mobility and strong passing skills make him a perfect fit for Guardiola’s football philosophy and the player must consider the option in order to experience the excitement of English football.
