Man United signing this 21-year-old English youth international would be a massive long-term investment

Manchester United Opinion: Ben Godfrey will strengthen the back-line

Manchester United’s season has been one of mixed emotions which have seen them quite literally live through the ups and downs of professional football within a pretty short frame of time.

Their campaign began miserably as a Jose Mourinho-led United side stumbled to defeat after defeat against even the relatively weaker opponents. By the time the United chiefs realised that The Special One’s time at the helm was up, it looked too late.

Enter Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The former Manchester United superstar was renowned for being a super-sub in his playing days. Just like old times, he came as a mid-season substitute for Jose Mourinho who’s method through the first part of the season were questionable at best.

Since Ole took charge, the mood around Old Trafford changed. The dark clouds surrounding the Stretford End were nowhere to be seen as all of the the players seemed to regain their form almost immediately after the Norwegian’s entry.

While players like Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba have really stepped up to the plate, the defending has still been average at times but there is obviously a massive improvement from earlier in the season.

Victor Lindelof has been in decent form since Ole took charge and has impressed. There has been a lot of shuffling next to him which has conceded silly goals.

According to reports from The Sun, Manchester United had scouts watching Norwich City play Rotherham in their recent tie and have expressed a keen interest to secure the services of the 21-year-Old Englishman, who recently got his call-up to the U20 side.

He has been in fantastic form for Norwich City this season and is yet to miss a minute of Championship action since making the centre-half role his own earlier in the season. His antics have helped them maintain a strong grip on top spot as they have looked quite stubborn in terms of conceding goals as well.

Having played 22 times this season in the league, there Englishman has scored 2 goals and got a further 2 assists which are excellent numbers for a centre-half. Also, his positioning and reactions in the box have been sublime all campaign.
