Major Change At Arsenal – Wenger’s Passing Style To Be Scrapped

According to a report published in Mirror, Arsenal are ready to move away from their trade-mark passing style of football which is not yielding the required results now a days.

Wenger’s style to be scrapped

The report suggests that newly appointed academy director Andries Jonker will instill faster paced, pressing gamestyle at youth-level first.

Since Arsene Wenger joined the club in 1996, Arsenal have been playing pass and move style of play “possession with progression” in Wenger’s terms. Even tough they blew teams apart with that style till 2004, the style became some what out-dated and now even the weak teams are able to counter it with pressing and physical game play.

The Mirror report  also claims,

He (Jonkers) wants youngsters to be brought up on a longer ball game, with pressing high up the field, rather than the pass-and-move style of the Wenger era.

The change has caused some surprise among the academy coaches, who wonder if the new style is the most appropriate way to help the development of young players

So, we may not see such breath-taking passing moves at Emirates in future? What do you gooners think of this? Which style of football Arsenal should play? Post your comments below,
