Liverpool Player Ratings Vs Everton

Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp became the first Liverpool manager to win each of his first three Merseyside derbies as Liverpool put three past Everton in a hostile game at Anfield. Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho came up with superb solo goals, separated by a dream goal from Matthew Perrington for Everton, who was making his debut for the club in the league. Divock Origi came on for the injured Sadio Mane and did not take long to add a third as Liverpool ran out comfortable winners to consolidate their place in the top-4. Ronald Koeman remains without a win in Merseyside derbies as Liverpool won all the bragging rights today. Here’s how the Liverpool players fared in the game.

Ratings:

Simon Mignolet (6)

Made one very important save but had a fairly comfortable game as Everton rarely threatened his goal.

Nathaniel Clyne (6)

Started the game slowly but grew into it and never gave Everton a chance to get in behind, helping his side to a victory.

Joel Matip (6)

Comfortable on the ball and won most of his battles with Lukaku as he continues to impress in his debut in England.

Dejan Lovren (8)

The MOTM if not for Coutinho’s efforts, Lovren had Lukaku in his pocket all game as he won almost everything in the air against the Belgian. Never put a foot wrong in a dream come back from injury.

James Milner (6)

Stuck to his task well at the back as he managed to keep Everton away. He had his moments at the other end of the field as well.

Lucas Leiva (6)

Though he gave away possession on a couple of times, he acted as a perfect cover for the back-4, dropping deep when needed, adding some mettle to Liverpool’s midfield on the night.

Emre Can (7)

Arguably one of his best performances this season, Can was all over Everton in the midfield as he put himself in the firing line, winning foul after foul, helping his side dominate the entire game.

Georginio Wijnaldum (7)

Continues to impress in his midfield role as he created a couple of half chances and put the pressure on Everton defence by attacking wonderfully well.

Sadio Mane (8)

The Senegalese picked up a serious looking injury which will worry Liverpool fans but he gave them the lead in the game that helped them go all the way.

Roberto Firmino (8)

Completely under the radar, thanks to Coutinho’s and Mane’s goals. Firmino had a superb game in a variety of positions as he created a number of chances and frustrated the Everton defence all night.

Philippe Coutinho (9)

The Man of the Match, Coutinho looked like he was back to his best as he tormented the Everton defence, scoring his team’s second and setting up Divock Origi for his goal in the second half. Was too hot to be handled by Everton.

Subs:

Divock Origi (7)

Came on for the inured Mane and scored less than three minutes later and acted as the target man that helped Liverpool see the game off.

Trent Alexander Arnold (7)

Looked like he enjoyed the attacking role and almost scored a goal in front of the Kop which would have just been a fairy-tale.

Ragnar Klavan (N/A)

Came on for Firmino at the 90th minute mark. Helped his team see out the game.
