Low Scoring Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 13 Review

Share

With 38 points as average, gameweek 13 was as low scoring a gameweek as you could get with all the big players not able to score much points for their Fantasy Premier League managers. With all the top teams, apart from Manchester United, facing goalless draws, it was no wonder that this week it was pretty rough on the Fantasy Premier League managers. The silver lining in the dark cloud is the fact the Fantasy Premier League managers would not have to look beyond Tuesday to uplift their mood when the next gameweek starts. Some of the important features of this week are as follows.

Defoe

Among top teams only United and Spurs win their matches- Manchester United defeated QPR 3-1, playing for the first time under new manager Redknapp, with the goals scored by Evans, Fletcher and Chicharito. Van persie again drew a blank and this is bound to arise questions in the mind of Fantasy Premier League managers, still the most in the competition, who trusted him with captaincy. Spurs also win their match against West Ham with a scoreline of 3-1. Defoe scored twice for them, while Bale scored the other. Gareth Bale is now quite becoming the ideal player you would want in your team, with him scoring against the big teams. The 12% owners of Defoe must be mighty pleased with the result, as in a gameweek as low scoring as this, 12 points seem like loads of points.

Arsenal, Liverpool draw their matches- Both Arsenal and and Liverpool give lackluster performance against much lesser opponents and draw their respective matches in a goalless manner. Arsenal, with Gibbs returning into the team, plays as a compact defensive unit and thus fail to break the back line of Aston Villa. Although, Liverpool came close to scoring twice, with Suarez and Enrique with the best opportunities, they fail to break the deadlock and thus suffer a goalless draw against Swansea. Thus the big point earners, Cazorla, Podolski, Suarez, Sterling all fail to deliver for their owners in Fantasy Premier League and make their owners go searching for points. The only good thing Liverpool was Jose Enrique, who earned points for a clean sheet and also showed promise for scoring a goal. If he continues to play in this fashion, soon he will be a great attacking option along the likes of Baines.

Stoke again proves to be a great defensive option- Stoke City wins their match again Fulham 1-0 again compelling us to take notice of their defensive capabilities. With this Berbatov fails to deliver, but Stoke’s defenders return valuable points for their Fantasy Premier League managers again proving that Begovic and Cameron would be the right men in the teams.

Everton and Norwich draw their match- Everton, without their midfield man Fellaini, and Norwich draw their match 1-1. Pienaar, on whom more than 10% of the Fantasy Premier League managers were depending and Baines, with his 24.6% ownership, fail to score much points more their owners. Norwich on the other hand, fails to keep the clean-sheet to frustrate the owners of Ruddy. Garrido though made an assist making him the third most transferred in player of the week.

City fails to win against Chelsea- Chelsea playing for the first time under their new manager, Rafa Benitez, holds City to a goalless draw making the owners of Hazard, Mata, Tevez, Aguero and Silva go grumpy. As things look right now, it would not be very wise to invest on a Chelsea midfielder right now as they seem to need some time to get into rhythm. City also fails to impress with their attacking efforts result in a lackluster match devoid of goalmouth action.
