Why Liverpool should sign Thorgan Hazard from the Bundesliga
According to a report in Mirror Football, Premier League giants Liverpool want to sign Thorgan Hazard from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach. Jurgen Klopp is considering the Belgian, who is Eden Hazard’s brother, as an option to make a move in the January transfer window.
The winger/attacking midfielder has a release clause of £26m. Other clubs, namely Everton and Manchester United, are also interested in the player. Hazard has a contract with Monchengladbach until 2020. (Mirror)
Here’s why Liverpool should consider signing the 25-year-old, even though a move to Stamford Bridge could be on the cards for the Belgian:
Liverpool’s need for a backup for Sadio Mane
The Reds have made a fantastic start to the season and remain the only team unbeaten in the league so far. They are on top at the moment with 22 more games to go and it looks like the title race might go down the wire.
Their coveted front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane haven’t been at their best but the team has managed to get the results in whichever way possible. Klopp’s men have Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge in their ranks if they have to rest either of Salah or Firmino, however, they do not have any direct backup for Mane.
Thorgan Hazard is chiefly a left-winger, who can play as a right-winger and as a number 10. He possesses a magical right foot, with which the creation and scoring of goals are done on a regular basis. The Belgian has been in great form in the Bundesliga this season for Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 25-year-old has netted 8 goals and supplied 6 assists in 14 league appearances, an impressive return for a prodigious player. Among the attributes he possesses, the key passing is right up there, and he has been doing so at an average of 2.7 per game. That means he has created around 38 chances in the league this year.
Moreover, the junior Hazard is good in taking set-pieces and possesses the raw pace to go past defenders in a flash. He is no slouch in dribbling as well, doing so at a rate of 1.6. The important thing is that the Belgian is very good off the ball, making him an ideal Jurgen Klopp player. He makes tackles at an average of 2 per match, epitomising his willingness to win the ball back as soon as possible.
Adding up all the facts and numbers, it’s easy to see that Thorgan Hazard would be a great addition to the Liverpool squad. He will be a perfect backup for Mane and provide extra quality in the final third for the Reds.
