Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Super Sunday, as both teams look determined to win the 3 points. Spurs will come into this match on the back of a stellar victory against Manchester United whereas Liverpool will also be looking to continue their winning momentum after subjecting Huddersfield Town to a brutal 3-0 loss. However, if Tottenham manage to stun the hosts, they can leapfrog Liverpool to the fourth spot in the points table.

Back in October, the Reds succumbed to a heavy defeat against Tottenham but they will be looking to make amends at Anfield. With that in mind, let’s take a look at a combined XI of the two teams comprising their most in-form players, who will be likely to play on Sunday.

Liverpool and Tottenham combined XI in a 4-3-3 formation

Hugo Lloris (GK)

It is no secret that Liverpool have struggled with their goalkeeping options this season. Simon Mignolet has been painfully underwhelming whereas Loris Karius has a long way to go. In contrast, Lloris has managed to hold up the fort admirably well and that is why he makes it to this lineup ahead of his Liverpool counterparts.

Kieran Trippier (RB)

Even with Serge Aurier in the mix, Trippier has been able to hold onto his position and he has put in some impressive defensive displays so far. The way he played against the Red Devils was truly exceptional, thus earning him a spot in this lineup.

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

If Trippier was exceptional, Sanchez was absolutely remarkable against United. The defender has improved so much during his time with Spurs and with yet another big game coming up, Mauricio Pochettino will be likely to deploy him in his usual role.

Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen (CB)

Vertonghen has been one of Tottenham’s most reliable and consistent players ever since the season began and it is no surprise to see his name included here.

Andy Robertson (LB)

The young Robertson has come quite a long way and his performances are a true testament to how much he has improved. An out-and-out modern attacking full-back, Robertson has put in some delightful displays, hence providing him with a spot in this lineup.

Eric Dier (DM)

There is very little that Dier cannot do in midfield. Effective at bossing the area to keep opponents at bay while pulling strings to facilitate the attack, he continues to be one of Tottenham’s most influential players.

Emre Can (CM)

Can’s initial performances seemed rather shaky this season but he has managed to spark quite an impressive turn-around to his form. In the match against Huddersfield, in particular, Can seemed like a beast in the midfield area and it will be interesting to see how he fares against Spurs.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (CM)

Oxlade-Chamberlain has put in some incredible performances lately and he seems to have blossomed into a better player ever since Philippe Coutinho left the club. Crucial to creative attacking plays, the former Arsenal star has become an important member of the Merseyside club.

Heung-min Son (LW)

Son thrives in high-tempo attacking situations and he has established himself as one of Tottenham’s best this season. He can go up against even the toughest of defences and he has done more than enough to earn a spot in this lineup.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah (RW)

There seems to be no end to the prolific Egyptian’s strong impact. He hit the ground running for Liverpool and has excelled in every single match he has played so far. Hence, he is a shoo-in for this role in the combined XI.

Harry Kane (ST)

Kane is simply unstoppable, there is no other way to put it. Regardless of how effective or lethal Roberto Firmino has been, there is simply no way any other striker deserves this spot more than Kane.
