Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur Report – Liverpool Match Report

The game couldn’t have started in more dramatic fashion. Sadio Mane received the ball at the edge of the penalty box and attempted to chip the ball into an area, only for Mousa Sissoko to obstruct the play.

Referee Damir Skomina awarded a penalty for handball. There was a quick VAR check, replays showed that Sissoko had his arms in an unnatural position and the penalty was awarded.

Liverpool’s Egyptian king took upon himself to amends after suffering a shoulder injury in the same game last season and went for power over precision, blasting it into the middle and giving the Reds a crucial lead within 2 mins of the game.

After this anti-climatic start to the game, Spurs looked to settle down and keep their composure. Building from the back slowly, not taking too many risks and allowing the better players to get touches on the ball.

Liverpool patiently waited for their chances, knowing that they had the initiative with a lead in hand. The rest of the first-half was a fairly cagey affair with scrappy passes from both teams. This was probably due to the nerves and the effects of a long break.

Spurs started the second half with some impetus but like most of the first half, lacked the quality in the final third. Jurgen Klopp made his first substitution in the 58th minute.

Roberto Firmino was nursing an injury prior to the game and Divock Origi had to come in. Spurs huffed and puffed but to no avail as the man of the semi-finals was the man for the finals.

Divock Origi scored the decider as he has done many times this season, to give Liverpool their 6th European Championship.

The Reds thoroughly deserved their win, having bested the likes of Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich along the way. They kept their composure and did just enough to become European champions once again.

Here’s how some ecstatic Liverpool fans reacted to the win:
