Liverpool vs. Chelsea: Preview, Form and Team News

Share

Liverpool vs. Chelsea. Result of the game is more important for Chelsea as they are trying to cement their place in the top four. Liverpool have nothing much to play for as they are floating in 6th place – five points behind their local rivals Everton.

Form

Chelsea are looking for a third straight win after they defeated Sunderland and also thrashed Fulham 3-0 in their last two games. Victory today will be a real boost for the blues in the race for the champions league qualification.

Liverpool have only won once in their last four games. Suarez’s dip in form of late is the main reason behind these poor performances. They need someone to take the goal scoring burden from the Uruguayan.

Team News

Raheem Sterling (thigh) will face a late fitness test before the game.

Fabio Borini (shoulder), Joe Allen (shoulder) and Martin Kelly (knee) are the long term absentees.

As for Chelsea, defenders Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill are back to full training and have slight chance of featuring in the game. No other big injury worries for Chelsea

Probable Starting Line-up (4-2-3-1): Reina; Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique; Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson; Coutinho, Suarez, Downing.

Probable Starting Line-Up (4-2-3-1): Cech; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Luiz, Bertrand; Lampard, Ramirez; Hazard, Mata, Oscar; Ba

Prediction

Even though Chelsea’s overall form is better than that of Liverpool, they always tend to struggle against Gerrard & co. Let’s hope for an interesting game anyway. Home advantage will make Liverpool the favorites but don’t count out the fire power of this Chelsea team.

Liverpool 2 Chelsea 1
