Liverpool Transfers: 3 players Who Could Follow Iago Aspas Out Of The Club

Share

Liverpool have plenty of money at the moment to get in new players and fill their squad. They have the luxury of buying young talents, who can be superstars of the future, a point in example Lazar Markovic. If there is one area that Liverpool lacked substantially last season, it was the squad strength and this term they have already made things a bit better with the signing of players like Lallana, Lambert, Emre Can and Markovic. And if reports are true, Liverpool are also on the lookout to sign a couple of more players to bolster their squad and compete in the different tournaments that they will feature next season.

But with that Liverpool are also on the verge clearing some deadwood out of the team. Already they have loaned out Aspas and Alberto and it is a matter of time before they transfer out a few more. We take a look at three such players who could follow Aspas and Alberto out of the club.

Pepe Reina

The veteran goalkeeper spent last season on loan at Napoli and is slated to come back this term. Although he had some impressive games in Italy, overall his performance was not upto the mark and thus Napoli are not very interested to retain his services. When Rodgers signed Mignolet last season, he pretty much made it clear that Reina’s time at Liverpool was up. Pepe Reina was too legendary a keeper to sit on the bench and wait for his chances, so he decided to move on. In addition to that, his wage was one of the highest in the club and it made no sense to pay to someone without taking the full dividends.

The latest reports say that Reina is prepared to sit down with Rodgers to talk about his future with Liverpool. But the above points suggest that Reina would be moving out of Liverpool this summer and although no destination has been decided yet, his Liverpool days are numbered.

Lucas Leiva

The Brazilian has been the heart of the midfield for a long time in the club. But last season he was inadequate and injuries played a big part in his downfall. Liverpool have already brought in Emre Can to play in his position and reportedly are looking for another experienced defensive midfielder to be the apt replacement for Lucas. This leaves Lucas free to move out of the club and Napoli are interested in the Brazilian’s services. Rafa Benitez wants to reunite with his former disciple and a bid from the Serie A club is on it way, if sources are to believed.

This would be a win-win deal for Lucas, who at 27, has lost his former self and playing in a potentially easier league than the Premier League would be ideal for the Brazilian to get some quality playing time.

Oussama Assaidi

The Moroccan player did not get enough chances to prove himself in his first season and was loaned to Stoke City, where he got some valuable gametime and scored some crucial goals. He is being considered as a surplus to the Liverpool needs and Stoke are interested to have him in the team. Rumours are flying that Stoke have made an offer in the range of £5 million, but Liverpool are ready to offload him if Stoke increase the offer by another £2 million. A deal can be in place very soon.
