Liverpool opinion: Should the Reds make a move for Cody Drameh?

Liverpool’s season took an absolutely incredible turn with the 4-0 win over Barcelona, despite not having four key players with them. It shows the desire and work-ethic that Jurgen Klopp has instilled into his team. The project has taken three odd years to create and is bearing fruit now.

Slowly yet steadily, the German manager has changed Liverpool, spending money on the right areas and, more importantly, on the right players. While he has spent big, Klopp has also spent smart and often used the younger players whenever he could.

The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson and even Joe Gomez have all followed that path. It’s why the Daily Mail has reported that the Reds have entered the race for Cody Drameh, as they look to reinforce their side.

The young full-back has been at the top of the list for quite some time, with him playing really well for Fulham’s youth sides.

Not even 18 yet, Drameh is the definition of the modern full-back and has done exactly what has been required of him.

Liverpool really do not need another right-back or at least a first-team right-back, with Trent Alexander-Arnold doing really well. The 22-year-old is amongst the highest creators in the Premier League.

More importantly, alongside Andrew Robertson, the two Liverpool full-backs have become the first defenders to hit double figures for assists. It shows exactly where a large portion of the Reds’ goals have come and why a move for someone like Cody Drameh makes a lot of sense.

An attack-minded right-back, the 17-year-old has done really well for Fulham’s academy sides at an alarmingly consistent rate, despite his age.

Like Joe Gomez, he has shifted in towards a more central role as a centre-back, which is where his future does lie. That leaves the Reds without a proper right-back and someone like Cody Drameh will help.

With his talent and sheer ability, the youngster clearly has a very bright future and one that will be useful for Liverpool.

Conclusion

Cody Drameh has a big future ahead of him and that is something that Liverpool really need to take full advantage of.

While Trent Alexander-Arnold has done well for the club, the 22-year-old needs back-up for his position. With time, that is exactly what Drameh can provide the club and at Liverpool, his talent will be nurtured.
