Liverpool signing Chelsea’s £50m January target would certainly boost the Reds’ title charge

Why Liverpool should definitely rekindle their interest in Nabil Fekir

Liverpool picked up a routine win against Fulham at home in the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp kept pace with table-toppers Manchester City.

The Reds have made considerable progress over the last year, with the arrival of Alisson Becker, Andrew Robertson and Virgil Van Dijk transforming their backline into something close to impenetrable.

But the Merseyside club are now facing issues in another area of the park – the midfield. Though Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have all done well defensively, none has managed to create much going forward.

Naby Keita’s arrival was set to end that dilemma but the new signing certainly needs more time as he adapts to the Premier League. Klopp should definitely reconsider going for Nabil Fekir once again when the transfer window reopens in January.

Nabil Fekir

According to the Sun, Chelsea are interested in making a £50m move for the French attacking midfielder. But Klopp should definitely beat the Blues given that both teams are in contention for the league title.

Fekir’s failed summer move to Anfield should be forgotten and the manager must snap him up. He has once again started the season in sublime form, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists in 7 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon. The Frenchman also has 2 goals and 2 assists in the Champions League, scoring against big sides like Manchester City and Hoffenheim this season.

The 25-year-old will definitely flourish under Jurgen Klopp and will thrive alongside Liverpool’s famed attack. He loves picking the passes and dictating the play in the final third. The likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are dying for a proper source of supply.

Salah and Mane have had to do most of the creation due to a lack of end product from the midfield. With Fekir pulling the strings, the Liverpool trio can focus on getting behind the defenders.

Fekir also adds goals to his game. Since Philippe Coutinho left for Barcelona in January, no other Liverpool midfielder has managed to replicate his goals or assists. If there’s one man who can do it, it’s the Lyon captain. He’s quick, confident and loves going at defenders.

The Frenchman is also comfortable playing with both feet. He will surely fit into Jurgen Klopp’s 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, although the latter would be more suited to his style.

Liverpool should definitely beat Chelsea to the signing of Nabil Fekir. Though Sarri seems determined to bolster his ranks in January, Klopp cannot allow Fekir to slip away this time. Liverpool are in dire need of some creative edge.
