Liverpool Player Ratings vs Everton: A 19 Year Old Steals The Show For The Reds

Everton and Liverpool played out a rather dull 0-0 draw in the 224^th Merseyside Derby. Liverpool would be disappointed with the result since they did most of the running and should have won the game based on the chances they created, this was also Steven Gerrard’s last Merseyside derby (unless both clubs meet in the Europa League). We rate the Liverpool players from a tough fought Premier League derby.

Simon Mignolet: 7/10

Mignolet didn’t really have much to do for much of the game but he did make an incredible save from Seamus Coleman in the dying minutes to keep the scores level. It seems the Liverpool keeper is getting better as games go by.

Emre Can: 8/10

Emre Can was immense yet again in defence for Liverpool, he was able to keep Lukaku and Mirallas quiet throughout the game and he was there to make some great interceptions as well. Can truly is a talent who will become better as the games go by.

Mamadou Sakho: 7/10

Sakho did have a couple of crazy moments but he was stellar in defence and looks a good partnership along with Skrtel and Can.

Martin Skrtel: 7/10

Another normal game for Skrtel, he didn’t really have to do much apart from a few interceptions and tackles, he would probably love to have afternoons like this all the time.

Lucas Leiva: 4/10

Lucas got injured really early in the game and had to be substituted, hopefully the injury is not too serious for the Brazilian.

Jordan Henderson: 6/10

Didn’t really do much in the game, he did have a bit of a go at Naismith in the second half but that was the only highlight in a disappointing performance for the Liverpool vice-captain.

Alberto Moreno: 6/10

Bombed up and down the left hand side of the Liverpool team and looked solid but didn’t wow anyone with his attacking ability, needs some more work on that facet of his game.

Jordon Ibe: 8/10

Probably the star of the first half, Ibe was excellent and could have scored a couple of goals had it not been for the goalkeeper making a great save and one shot coming off the post. Ibe was fast, dangerous and looked fantastic, Liverpool have got another bright gem in the making.

Philippe Coutinho: 6/10

Another player who had a disappointing afternoon, the Brazilian looked a little tired from all his previous games and could do with a rest.

Steven Gerrard: 6/10

The last time we could be seeing Gerrard, he wasn’t his dictating self as he was played in a more advanced role, he did have a couple of chances for glory but he couldn’t get into the score-sheet.

Raheem Sterling: 6/10

Sterling also looked a little jaded and the games just keep coming fast for Liverpool as they play in midweek and then at the weekend with European fixtures coming up also, it might be good to drop Sterling and rest him for a game or two.

Substitutes:

Joe Allen: 4/10

We wonder what exactly does Joe Allen do apart from pass the ball around for 5 yards. Allen was probably the worst player for Liverpool, he barely looked up for the battle and was easily forced off the ball and he gave away some needless fouls.

Daniel Sturridge: 6/10

Sturridge still looked rusty and it was probably a good thing he did not start the game. He did have one good chance but it was blocked really well by Phil Jagielka, Sturridge needs some more time in the playing XI to get back into his groove.

Rickie Lambert: 5/10

Lambert was brought on late in place of Sterling and really didn’t have much time to do anything on the field, it could be a possibility that time might be up for Lambert and he is just on his final minutes at Liverpool.
