Why Liverpool should not give up on this World Cup winner and try to complete the deal

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Mario Gotze throughout the summer. Reports earlier in May suggested that Gotze wasn’t satisfied with the game time he was getting at Bayern and was ready to leave the club. But at the end of May, the German midfielder said that he will stay at the club and will fight for his place. This had made it clear that he was not going to leave Bayern Munich. But a recent statement from Carlo Ancelotti and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge suggested that former Dortmund player wasn’t needed in the team and that he will warm the bench. James Pearce of the Echo has confirmed it that Gotze is for sale and that has reignited Liverpool hopes. Reports suggest that Liverpool are ready to pay 20 million euros for the 24-year-old German playmaker. And if the deal goes through at a higher fee, the club will not hesitate paying it.

Mario Gotze has won the Bundesliga 5 times and has loads of Champions League experience under his belt. Jurgen Klopp knows all about him as he has nurtured him during his time at Borussia Dortmund. If anybody can bring Gotze to Liverpool, it is the Liverpool manager. The duo shares a very good bond and which could help in convincing him.

Mario Gotze didn’t play a awful lot at Bayern last season. He only made 11 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring 3 times and assisting for 4 goals. Considering the talent that he possesses, he can be of much use than warming the bench. his style of play suits Klopp’s tactics. He is good at high pressing and likes to play short passes. With the likes of Coutinho and Firmino in the squad, Gotze can easily play his natural game. He also likes to play key passes, passes which result into goal scoring opportunities. Klopp knows Gotze very well and he can help him adjust in the team. Liverpool need a star player in their squad and the German is a perfect fit.

Liverpool should not give up on Mario Gotze after recent developments suggest that Bayern have no future plans of fitting him into the starting XI. If Gotze does leave Bayern this summer, Liverpool’s Champions League problem won’t last long.
