Liverpool have done it yet again this season. They have been the most proactive in the transfer market until now and have reportedly already made five deals. While Kolo Toure and Iago Aspas have come into the team, Andy Carroll has made his move permanent at West Ham. Moreover, the club has made remarkable progress to sign Simon Mignolet from Sunderland and the deal with Luis Alberto has already been finalised.
Luis Alberto, who played for Barcelona B team the previous season after making a move from Sevilla, has already signed with the Merseyside club after passing a medical this morning. The club website had announced soon after the 20 year old Spaniard penned a long term contract with the club, ending relentless speculation for the past few days. The reported fee is believed to be around £6.7m.
Alberto can play in many positions for his team and thus he can be provided with many roles by Brendan Rodgers as the season progresses. With one year under his belt for the Catalan side, he should be quite used to the style of play of Rodgers and thus would not need too much time to gel in with the side. Although, his favourite position is the false nine, he can operate smoothly from the left side of the flank and would be a great back up for Coutinho. In the new look Liverpool side, the manager and the fans would hope to believe that both Aspas and Alberto can create a successful partnership with Sturridge and Coutinho and the results starts showing soon enough.
Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet is also another player the Kops are desperate to include in their side and if reports are to be believed, then a fee of around £10m has already been accepted by the player’s current club. The Belgian shotstopper is on vacation right now and he should be at the Melwood early next week to go through with his medical and finalise his deal. Former Liverpool striker Michael owen praised Mignolet in twitter.
