According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Barcelona are interested in signing Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been incredible for the Reds and has cemented his place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI at just 20 years of age, with his quality of delivery adding another dimension to Liverpool’s attack.
He set a Premier League record last season by providing the highest number of assists in a single campaign for a defender with 12 – one more than teammate Andrew Robertson.
The England international’s impressive displays have not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona willing to bring him to Nou Camp. But Liverpool must do everything in their powers to keep hold of their star defender.
A feature of Liverpool’s evolution over the past couple of seasons has been the attacking threat provided by their full-backs, with both Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson emerging as key players. He was instrumental behind the Merseyside club’s UEFA Champions League success last season.
Alexander-Arnold has continued to improve his game and has made a superb start to this campaign. The 20-year-old has collected 9 assists in his last ten games, and Klopp’s side cemented their place at top of the table with a 3-1 win over Arsenal.
The young Englishman is one of the best attacking full-backs in Europe at the moment. He has a good pace to burn and can dribble with the ball without losing possession in the opposition half. The £100,000-a-week star loves to make overlapping runs and terrorise defenders with his dribbling skills and movement.
Noted for his calmness and composure in possession, the West Derby-born star possesses a fantastic ability to whip dangerous crosses into the box from the wide areas. Furthermore, the 20-year-old is a potent threat from dead-ball situations as well. However, Alexander-Arnold can be vulnerable when defending inside his own half, especially in 1vs1 situations.
Alexander-Arnold has developed leaps and bounds under Klopp, establishing himself as one of the best attacking right-backs in Europe. Even if Barcelona are interested, Liverpool have no reason to sell one of their prized assets.

The 20-year-old needs to be on the top of his game for the remainder of the season if the Reds are to win the Premier League title, and make sure he’s guaranteed a starting place for England at Euro 2020.
